I photograph people.
I’m Dmytro Huk, a Ukrainian photographer based in Berlin.
I grew up in Odesa and moved to Kyiv at 19 to study film and television directing. For years, my world was connected to film, television and visual storytelling. After moving to Berlin, photography gradually became the way I wanted to tell stories again — only now, through a single frame.

I photograph actors, models, creatives and people in business, but I’ve never been particularly interested in putting people into categories. For me, a portrait always starts with the person.
I like to keep things simple on set. I don’t want people to perform a version of themselves for the camera. I’m much more interested in character, presence, vulnerability and those small moments when someone stops thinking about how they look.

My background in directing still influences the way I photograph. I think in light, mood, character and story. My work often feels cinematic and editorial, but underneath all of that, I want the portrait to feel honest.
Currently based in Berlin. Available for projects in Germany and internationally.
